Toon Movie “Encanto” was Chosen as The Year’s Best Animated Film.
It was the first Oscar for director Kenneth Branagh, and best supporting actor went to Troy Kotsur. Hans Zimmer won best original score for “Dune,” which took home six Oscars, while Billie Eilish and Finneas won best song for their piece from the film of the same name, “No Time to Die.”
Hamaguchi explained that he chose to depict the story’s emotional core—the growing intimacy between Kafuku and his much younger driver Misaki (who also lost her mother in the mudslide)—through their chats in Kafuku’s cherished red Saab, one of the few colourful items in the film.
